Spring is here and the dark days of winter are behind us! The Yard is literally in bloom as the vibrant colors of crocus and tulips reveal themselves. In spite of the dark days of a not so bad winter, the Naval Academy Club was busy supporting events in-house and across the Yard. January marked the beginning of Naval Academy Catering’s support of the annual Community and Service Assignment Dinners. We look forward to this time of year when soon to be new Navy and Marine Corps officers gather to celebrate their specific career assignments. Working closely with Mrs. Carter, we created new menus for each dinner. Guests were able to enjoy a wonderful meal in historic Dahlgren Hall, while they exchanged congrats; shared stories of the past, and ponder what the future holds as they prepare to embark on their respective journeys. We were host to the U.S. Navy Crew’s 150th Anniversary celebration! 660 alumni, midshipmen, and guests alike celebrated the history and tradition of Navy Crew over cocktails and an exquisite dinner banquet. Putting together an event like this involves many moving parts and intricate details. This event is a testament of how Naval Academy Catering has evolved to more than just catering. Other notable events that kept us busy include the Annual Football banquet, two very large and detailed wedding receptions at the Club and the annual Distinguished Graduate Awards Reception that commemorates this year’s awardees. Looking ahead, we are excited to support again, the International Ball VIP Cocktail Reception; and the annual Naval Academy Foreign Affairs Conference, where undergraduates from around the United States and the world come together to discuss current global affairs. We like to think we provide the food as the universal language for both events! Commissioning week is right around the corner and we are preparing for the busy season - graduation parties, rehearsal dinners, weddings, and award ceremonies to name just a few of the events requiring our catering service.
